There's a lot going on in the country of Ethiopia right now. From what I'm reading, there has not been much rain since October, and especially not much during the typically-rainy season of March to May. This is leading to drought conditions. It is being predicted that if things don't change soon, there will be wide-spread famine. There are also rolling black outs because much of their power is hydro-electric. I read that there is currently a 2 day a week mandatory black-out in the capital city of Addis Ababa. Think of what life would be like with not having power 2 days out of every week. Think even more what it would be like to see your store of food quickly diminishing, your cattle getting thinner, and no sign of rain.
It brings back images from when we were kids and there were famines in Ethiopia. Back then, those images broke my heart because they were images of people...so many of whom were children...in the midst of immense suffering. Now, those people are so much nearer and dearer to my heart. Those people have names. Those children have familiar faces.

Holding on to hope that we might make it through court soon
One of the issues we have run up against is the possibility that we might not make it through court before it closes for the summer. Yesterday I talked with our case worker at our agency and asked her for her opinion on whether we might get a referral before the courts close for the summer. She seemed to be full of hope that we might make it through. It seems that things might pick up here a bit, soon. So, we'd love it if you'd join us in praying for a referral before the summer court closure. If we don't make it before summer, our little girl will still be waiting there for us afterwards...its just that we'd love to meet her sooner than later.
